AWARDS TO OUTSIDE
ORGANIZATIONS
Urban League of the MidPlains, Inc. (formerly Wichita Urban League)
Since 1994, the Urban League of the MidPlains, Inc. (ULMP), has participated in the Future Astronauts Training Program at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. Each summer, we have sent seven students from our Young Engineers and Science (YES) Program to the Level I Camp. This has been made possible by the grant from the Kansas Space Grant Consortium. We have long wanted to send eligible students to the Level II Camp, and have started raising funds to do that. Contact Robert "Bob" Gerrett at 316-683-3315 or Joni Berger at joniberger@msn.com.
StarDate
Since 1997, the University of Kansas has awarded some of its Kansas Space Grant Consortium funding to underwrite the statewide broadcast of the twice-daily radio program, StarDate, which originates from the McDonald Observatory, a research unit at the University of Texas at Austin.
